T-Mobile Netherlands has chosen Ericsson as its main supplier for the renewal of its mobile radio network, following an ‘intensive selection process’, the cellco announced in a press release, adding that the Swedish vendor came out on top in an assessment takingaccount quality, cost, equipment performance, innovation and sustainability. T-Mobile will entera long-term commitment with Ericsson for the supply of the mobile radio network, both for 5G and its 3G/4G networks. The release adds that T-Mobile and Ericsson will work together on new innovations to further develop the network.

T-Mobile expects to obtain sufficient 5G frequencies in the Netherlands’ 3.5GHz auction next year, enabling it to raise bandwidth and capacity on its 5G network to give end users higher data speeds, even in congested zones and meet the increasing demand for video sharing and live streaming, while new business applications will be catered for such as industrial solutions requiring high bandwidth and low latency.

T-Mobile Netherlands’ existing mobile network was developed in partnership with vendors including Huawei and Nokia.
