Tele2 Russia has enhanced network coverage in key buildings in Moscow, completing upgrades at 24 major facilities since the beginning of 2024. The improvements include expanded voice and internet services at prominent locations such as business centers, shopping malls, and residential complexes, Tele2 Russia announced on Monday.

Network Upgrades at Key Moscow Facilities

Key sites benefiting from the upgrades include the Luzhniki Aquacomplex, the Lomonosov cluster at  Moscow State University, and the Tower on the Embankment in the  Moscow City business center. New base stations have also been installed in major shopping centers and residential areas, including Seliger City and Fili City.

Tele2 said its efforts also extend to popular hostels and leisure facilities, with a focus on providing stable LTE connectivity indoors. According to the technical development plan, Tele2 is set to improve coverage at more than 30 additional sites by the end of the year.

Network Upgrades to Handle Traffic

"Traffic consumption by Tele2 subscribers is growing by about 20 percent. This means that the operator must modernise the equipment in a timely manner and install new ones to ensure customers have access to stable communication wherever they are," Tele2 Russia said.

"At present, we are focusing on improving coverage inside large buildings of social importance for  Muscovites, including shopping and business centers, popular leisure facilities, and even residential complexes. By the end of 2024, the Technical Department of  Moscow has a lot of work ahead to make Tele2's indoor coverage more stable and high-quality," Tele2 added.

Enhancements Along the M-11 Highway

In another announcement, Tele2 said it was the first to provide customers with stable mobile internet and voice communication on the new section of the M-11 highway.

The company reportedly installed 13 base stations in 2G and 4G LTE using the 1800 MHz band, enabling a maximum mobile speed of 150 Mbps. This completes the construction of the network along the entire Neva highway connecting  Moscow and St. Petersburg, the company said.
