PwC to make carbon credit recommendations for mobile sector
India\'s Department of Telecom (DoT) has contracted PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to draft a carbon credit policy for mobile operators and to evaluate the technical and commercial feasibility of powering 350,000 telecommunications towers with "green" energy. PwC will provide its suggestions by the end of February, the Economic Times reports.
The Indian government wants operators to ensure that a substantial amount of power consumed by towers is fed back into the national grid in the form of renewable energy by 2020, a senior executive of a mobile operator told the paper.
