Zamtel, the leading telecom company in Zambia, launched its 4G LTE service in Kitwe on Wednesday, LteWorld reported. The operator said that its customers in the city will be able to experience the phenomenal speeds offered by 4G technology, which can reach over 50Mbps, a quantum leap in performance when compared to 3G technology, which typically has speeds of 2-3Mbps.

Spawn Fan, Huawei managing director in charge of Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi, said that Huawei is delighted to see the significant development of Zamtel in terms of both technology and business. He also stressed that the operator’s adoption of LTE, the latest mobile technology, will provide more multimedia and better services to all Zambians.
