UK carriers EE and Three have agreed to build the next stage of their basic 4G networks together, including sharing mast infrastructure and transmission costs, LteWorld reported.

Both operators plan to invest a combined $1.64 billion (1 billion pounds) to complete their telecom infrastructure. EE already has 2 million 4G customers and provides 4G coverage to nearly 70 percent of the UK population. Three UK plans will offer 4G coverage in 50 cities by the end of 2014, bringing 4G to 98 percent of the population by the end of 2015.
