STC opens LTE-Advanced network
Saudi Telecom Group (STC), a Saudi Arabia-based telecommunications company that offers landline, mobile and Internet services, has launched LTE-Advanced, the latest evolution of its 4G network, Telecompaper reported on Monday.
STC said the new technology will improve the user experience and elevate data speeds. The operator established its TD-LTE service in 2013, with a significant increase in the number of LTE network users and data traffic. The latest enhancements will double the capacity of the LTE network, allowing the network to cover a wider area and support more users and traffic. STC said that the 4G network will be upgraded further in the future, with the aim of reaching speeds of 1 Gbps.
