The two plan to add new base transceiver stations across the country to provide 2G/4G mobile services in more rural and remote locations, especially in the north.

Telenor Sweden\'s CEO, Lars-Ake Norling, said in a press release that they were making a special effort to increasse coverage in the northern part, including Vasternorrland, Vasterbotten, Jamtland and Norrbotten county, increasing the number of BTS there by more than 140 percent, while in the remainder of the country, the number will be increased by around 40 percent.

Tele2 Sweden\'s CEO, Thomas Ekman, went on to explain, "We were the first in Sweden with a nationwide 4G mobile network [with 99 percent population coverage in Q1 of 2013 via frequency band combination], and focused primarily on building coverage and capacity where people live and work. In today\'s focus, we take the next step for a mobile network by providing access and call coverage no matter where our customers are."
