Saudi Arabian telecoms operator Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) has signed a deal with the UAE’s Emirates Telecommunications Corp (Etisalat) on 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) roaming for the two countries’ subscribers, TeleGeography reports.

A joint press release announced that Mobily will connect its subscribers via Elisalat’s SmartHub IPX, which provides roaming services, voice, messaging, and GRX data between mobile network operators, fixed operators, application service providers, and over-the-top (OTT) content players, via a single connection.

Amer Mowafi, chief officer of Mobily’s wholesale and carrier services, explained, “The partnership with Etisalat’s SmartHub-IPX will improve communications between both countries, especially with the increase in subscribers travelling for both personal and business needs. The proliferation of 4G devices in the region has also made it imperative that we provide the best network and services to our large subscriber base.”
