Omnitel, Lithuania’s largest mobile operator by subscriber, has announced that it improved its 3G network across the southwestern part of the country last month, TeleGeography reports. A press release from the company said that base stations in Klaipeda, Sakiai, Silale, Silute, Taurage and Vilkaviskis now have dual carrier (DC)-HSPA+ 3.5G and 4G LTE technology. Last month, the TeliaSonera-owned operator announced that its LTE network had been expanded to 40 percent of the population. By the end of the year Omnitel aims to bring this up to 50 percent, and also hopes to provide 3G coverage for the whole country.
