Google has come up with a new project, Project Tango which will enable smartphones to use 3D technology for mapping, gaming and other purposes, Indiatimes reports. Project Tango is still in its nascent stages but will allow understanding locations and their surrounding spaces in improved dimensions. According to Google, Project Tango is an exploration into giving mobile devices a human-scale perception of space and motion.

Under Project Tango, Google is developing a new smartphone which can use the Tango technology and enable apps to make and create 3D maps for navigation for the blind. Google is currently testing the app on a 5-inch screen phone that is fully customized to track 3D motions and accordingly create a map of the surroundings.
