Outremer Telecom, a subsidiary of Luxembourg’s Altice Group, has selected French-US telecoms vendor Alcatel-Lucent to apply its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology at five markets sites -- French Guiana, S.A., Martinique and Guadeloupe in the Caribbean, and Reunion and Mayotte in the Indian Ocean, reports TeleGeography.

Alcatel-Lucent will use an ‘LTE overlay solution’ to replace Outremer’s 2G/3G legacy core network for a new radio access network. The new equipment will include Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and Centralized Subscriber Data Manager functionality, with the latter consolidating profile data from across the mobile network for more personalized services.
