Plus and Cyfrowy Polsat conduct LTE-A tests
Poland\'s mobile phone network operator Polkomtel (Network Plus) and Polish DTH platform Cyfrowy Polsat have discussed the possibilities of LTE-Advanced technology for 2x15 MHz on the 800-MHz, frequency band, Telecompaper reports, quoting Media2.pl. Speeds in a test reached 225 Mbps, which would be possible for Poland’s total population if it opts for a single network. This precedes a forthcoming LTE auction in Poland.
Polkomtel has pointed to the following advantages of a single network: broadband Internet access all of Poland; same quality of services for all citizens; low construction costs and environmental and landscape protection because of not having to build thousands of transmitters for each operator; lower maintenance costs, since each operator would be responsible for only a small part of the network; and, as a result, lower costs for consumers.
