Sprint, CCA, NetAmerica partner to speed up LTE use

2014-03-28 15:57:28| Source:

Sprint has announced a program it developed with the Competitive Carriers Association (CCA) and an agreement with the NetAmerica Alliance for rapid deployment of LTE across rural America and provide carriers in those region with low-cost access to Sprint\'s network, reports Telecompaper.

The CCA program and NetAmerica agreement will help increase LTE coverage in underserved communities where network building costs and the roaming costs are often prohibitively expensive. In this way, CCA carriers and NetAmerica Alliance members will be able to quickly and efficiently deploy and support LTE networks. In turn, Sprint customers can roam on the LTE networks built by CCA and NetAmerica Alliance members. To facilitate roaming between these networks, Sprint plans to provide LTE devices that include a chipset allowing the device to roam on the lower 700-MHz spectrum primarily in use by CCA and NetAmerica Alliance members, beginning in January 2015.
