Business operator and integrator Hub One is testing its LTE for airport applications at Paris\'s Charles de Gaulle airport, using Alcatel-Lucent equipment, Telecompaper.com reports, explaining that the applications include anti-collision systems, data exchanges between aircraft and ground operations, video security in the luggage area, operational communications with emergency vehicles and multimedia communications between ground staff and control towers.

Hub Telecom is using an evolved Packet Core network and three eNode B base stations, with three remote radio heads. One of the base stations is located outside to cover the apron, another is in the luggage area, and the third is in the passenger zone, using 700-MHz frequencies. Mobile LTE routers are installed in aircraft and emergency vehicles.

The two are also testing PMR over LTE, as a substitute to the traditional TETRA system in use today.
