The UAE operator Du has signed an agreement with Nokia to deploy an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) on its network later this year, to give customers improved services, such as HD Voice, HD Video, file sharing and instant messaging, reports Telecompaper.com, which also explains that IMS will allow for fixed-mobile convergence so customers can seamlessly access the same service across networks.

This technology paves the way to an all-IP core and is the core controller of choice for LTE networks, with VoLTE and multimedia services. The addition of IMS will ensure scalability and flexibility for Du\'s voice and multimedia services, through an IP-based platform for multi-screen capability across device types, and fixed and mobile access.
