Telecom Italia expands FTTC and 4G network to Trieste

Telecom Italia has announced the extension of its FTTC and 4G networks to the northeastern Italian city of Trieste with a total investment of around €8 million ($10.9 million), Telecompaper.com reports. The operator used new non-invasive digging techniques for the FTTC network, rolling out around 200 km of cable to connect 460 street cabinets and providing 110,000 households with Internet connections at speeds of at least 30-Mbps.

Telecom Italia has also installed 38 LTE-enabled base stations in Trieste to expand its 4G coverage to nearly 100 percent of the city\'s people. According to the company, Trieste is one of Italy’s first cities to have a fully operational fiber-optic and 4G network.
