AT&T to roll out fixed wireless network nationwide

Following trial runs in select markets, AT&T has announced the nationwide rollout of a new fixed wireless service leveraging its LTE network, reports Telecompaper.com. Designed primarily for rural subscribers, AT&T Wireless Home Phone and Internet will allow users to connect as many as 10 IP devices, using their home phone over the company\'s wireless service and consuming a capped amount of data.

DSL Reports notes that those caps could present a problem for some data subscribers, with the service\'s $60 base cost only providing 10 GB of data. Going up the tiers, $90 pays for 20 GB and $120 per month buys 30 GB. Users pay $15 for each gigabyte above their cap. AT&T says the data service will support download speeds from 5 Mbps to 12 Mbps, depending on the user’s location within the LTE coverage area.

The voice plan runs $20 per month and includes three-way calling, caller ID, call forwarding and voicemail. AT&T is providing the hardware, a $199 value, for free with a two-year contract.
