Smartphone sales up by 43% in Russia in Q2
Smartphone sales in Russia grew by 43 percent year-on-year to 5.62 million units in Q2, Prime reported, citing a study by the mobile operator MTS, according to Telecompaper.com on July 3, 2014. Sales volume increased by 19 percent to RUB 46.7 billion. Smartphones costing up to RUB 5,000, as well as LTE smartphones were the main drivers of the growth. Around 710,000 LTE smartphones were sold for a total of RUB 16.12 billion. Still, the smartphone market growth was the lowest in four quarters.
