Telefonica Deutschland reported revenues of EUR 1.162 billion ($1.55 billion) for the second quarter of this year, a decrease of 4.4 percent from the same period in 2013, Telecompaper.com reported on July 30, 2014. Taking MTR cuts into account, the decrease is 4.3 percent. Mobile service revenues amounted to EUR 728 million, down 2.7 percent, or 2.5 percent excluding MTR effects. Telefonica Deutschland’s fixed line revenues amounted to EUR 287 million in the second quarter, 7.7 percent lower than in 2013 due to a continued decline in DSL customers. The quarterly OIBDA (Operating Income Before Depreciation and Amortization) decreased to EUR 252 million, a drop of 14.5 percent from last year, leading to an OIBDA margin of 21.7 percent compared to last year’s 24.2 percent. The lower OIBDA is caused by lower service revenue and continued commercial investments. In the second quarter, the operator reported a net loss of EUR 24 million compared to EUR 3 million in 2013. Telefonica Deutschland’s Capex dropped 10.9 percent to EUR 134 million, reflecting its investments in LTE network deployment.
