US investment company Providence Equity Partners is considering buying a stake in Canadian operator Wind Mobile, according to Bloomberg, Telecompaper.com reported on July 31, 2014. Providence could provide Wind Mobile with the means to bid on spectrum for expansion and upgrade its existing network to LTE.

The Canadian government has planned an auction for March 2015 for which 60 percent of the spectrum will be reserved for operators with less than 10 percent of the national market and less than 20 percent of subscribers on provincial networks.
