Philippines mobile operator Smart Communications has announced that 5G wireless technology, known as LTE-Advanced (LTE-A), is now running on its network, Telecompaper.com reported on Aug 14, 2014. Smart switched on LTE-A at the Smart Jump Center in Mandaluyong City. The operator started testing LTE-A services across the country in August 2013, delivering speeds of over 100 Mbps to Makati City, in Boracay, and in Davao City during the Kadayawan festival.
