Movistar Colombia expands LTE services in Cundinamarca

Movistar Colombia has launched its 4G LTE service in 11 municipalities in the country’s Cundinamarca department, reported Telecompaper.com on Aug 14, 2014. The municipalities benefiting from the launch are Soacha, Choconta, Facatativa, Fusagasuga, La Mesa, Sopo, Tabio, Tenjo, Villeta, Zipaquira and Chia. The operator invested a total of COP 3.1 billion ($1.64 million) in the LTE deployment. Movistar already provides 4G LTE services in Bogota, Cali, Bucaramanga, Medellin, Barranquilla, Santa Marta, Popayan, Pasto, Manizales, Cartagena, Sincelejo, Cucuta, Tunja, Riohacha, Armenia, Quibdo, San Andres and Soacha, among others. Movistar Colombia is fully owned by Spanish telecoms firm Telefonica.
