Orange Spain signs deal to offer 4G services to another MVNO

Orange Spain has signed an agreement to provide 4G wholesale services to an as yet unnamed MVNO, in addition to the deal it announced earlier this year with Jazztel, Telecompaper.com reported on Sept 4, 2014. Speaking at the XXVIII telecommunications and digital economy meeting held at Menendez Pelayo University in Santander, Orange Spain\'s CFO Federico Colom said the deal was compatible with, albeit completely independent from, the project to offer its network to Jazztel, enabling the latter to become one of the first Spanish MVNOs to offer high-speed mobile broadband on an LTE network by the end of the year.

Another Spanish MVNO, Pepephone, announced in February that it was abandoning Vodafone Spain\'s network and moving to that of Yoigo with a view to offering 4G services to its customers. However, Pepephone is still waiting for Spain\'s telecoms regulator CNMC to sanction its agreement with Yoigo. The MVNOs having implied there is some sort of agreement between the three major operators to block wholesale 4G services.
