The Kazakhstan cellular operator Altel has launched Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G mobile services in a further three markets, taking overall network coverage to 7.2 million people in 22 cities, writes Telegeography.com on Oct 13, 2014. Services are now available in Zhezkazgan, Kulsary and Rudniy, the operator says, with existing Jet 3G subscribers being transferred to the new network for a fee of KZT550 ($3). Going forward, another twelve cities with populations of more than 50,000 are set to receive LTE connectivity before the end of 2014.
