Entel Peru aims to reach market share of 8% in one year

Peruvian telco Entel expects to reach a market share of 8 percent in the local mobile telephony market in one year, reports Telecompaper.com on Oct 14, 2014. The firm currently has a market share of 4 percent, according to the report. Last week, Chilean telecoms operator Entel announced that its Peruvian subsidiary Nextel Peru has been rebranded as Entel Peru. Nextel Peru, previously owned by US company NII Holdings, was acquired last year by Entel Chile for $410 million. Nextel Peru is in process to launch 4G services nationwide. Last week, the telco kicked off its 4G LTE service in Lima\'s San Borja district. Entel Peru said that total investments by the end of this year will reach $1 billion. This investment includes the acquisition of Nextel, the acquisition of 4G spectrum as well as the expansion of the operator\'s networks.
