Oi SA is working with Barclays to explore the sale of around 3,000 Portugal Telecom (PT) cell towers, people with knowledge of the matter have informed Bloomberg, reports Telegeography.com on Oct 20, 2014. Companies including Spain’s Abertis Infraestructuras and American Tower Corp, as well as private-equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR), are interested in the assets, the sources noted. Oi stands to raise as much as EUR300 million ($382.7 million) from the tower sale.

PT offers wireless services in its domestic market via its MEO unit, which was known as Telecomunicacoes Moveis Nacionais (TMN) prior to January 2014.
