Vodafone Spain has expanded its 4G network to both lines (L1 and L2) of the Bilbao metro, allowing passengers to surf at 4G speeds on all underground and overground stations and platforms, reports Telecompaper.com on Oct 21, 2014. Depending on the mobile device used, passengers can download data at up to 150 Mbps and upload at up to 50 Mbps, said Vodafone, which explained that the Bilbao metro was one of the first underground systems in Europe with 4G coverage in all stations. The operator launched 4G services in Bilbao back in May 2013, and its 4G network now covers 53 localities in the Basque Country, 34 of them in Bilbao’s province of Biscay.

Vodafone Spain also confirmed that Bilbao would be connected to its LTE-A network, the higher-speed version of 4G, by December.
