NSN joins Sprint in 2.6 Gbps TD-LTE demonstration

The company Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) is working with the US’s Sprint to demonstrate 2.6 Gbps over a single sector, at the Mobile World Congress 2014, by using its commercially available Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station. NSN is also showing a high-capacity Flexi Multiradio System Module for TD-LTE that can provide up to 5 Gbps of peak from a single site. NSN has used 120 MHz of Sprint’s TDD spectrum to reach a speed of 2.6 Gbps, via its commercial Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station.

NSN says that, with the enhanced Flexi Multiradio System Module, operators can develop TD-LTE networks with fewer base stations and fewer sites, thereby saving up to 50 percent in expenditures and operating costs. The module uses integrated transport technology, alleviating the need for additional hardware for connecting to transport networks. It also has built-in IPsec security, providing a secure connection between the base station and core network, protecting traffic from eavesdropping, unauthorized access or distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.
