KPN to start LTE TV services
The Netherlands’ telco KPN has announced plans to pilot a 10-channel TV service over its Long-Term-Evolution (LTE) 4G mobile network by mid-2014, TeleGeography has reported, quoting Broadband TV News.
This TV Everywhere setup will come with a monthly fee, but the video streaming will not count as usage in subscribers’ monthly data allowance. KPN also says it will withdraw its Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) service, Digitenne, with sales already having ceased and existing subscribers being encouraged to switch to KPN’s IPTV platform. KPN’s Digitenne license expires on Feb 1, 2017.
