D-Link debuts its DWR-921 4G LTE router

The networking services provider D-Link has opened its DWR-921 4G LTE router to provide internet connectivity in locations where ADSL is not available, Telecompaper reported on Tuesday, as a better choice in rural areas where ADSL broadband is either not available or is slow, or in such places as outdoor events, construction sites, buses, or boats where ADSL is unstable. The DWR-921 can provide speeds of up to 100 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload, and allows users to access and share their 4G LTE or 3G mobile broadband connections. When connected, they can transfer data, stream media and send SMS messages, and can insert an SIM/USIM card and share the 4G LTE or 3G internet connection through a wireless network or any of the four Ethernet ports.

DWR-921 uses dual-active firewalls (SPI and NAT) to prevent possible unwanted intrusions, while the WPA/WPA2 wireless encryption keeps the wireless network secure. Dual-band 4G LTE and 3G support allow automatic 3G connection when the 4G LTE signal strength drops, and an additional xDSL/FTTH Ethernet WAN option maintains connectivity if either a fixed line or mobile broadband fails.
