Belgium’s BASE Company announced that it has completed the country’s first LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) technology trials in partnership with Chinese vendor ZTE using 2×20MHz Carrier Aggregation, combined with MIMO 2×2 technology, achieving maximum speeds of up to 300Mbps.

Suzanne Kelder, BASE’s chief technical officer, said of the trials carried out in Hasselt: “Even though this is still a test phase, we clearly see the advantages for our customers -- the LTE-Advanced tests show data speeds over 250Mbps.”

According to the company, its 4G infrastructure now extends to more than 400 cities, towns and villages, covering more than four million people, just four months after commercial services were introduced.
