Telefonica sets date for Guatemalan LTE launch
Spanish telecoms operator Telefonica is looking to introduce 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology in Central America, in the next three months, reports TeleGeography, quoting Guatemalan news website El Periodico, and adding that the telco – which operates under the Movistar brand – will open its Central American network in Guatemala, in May or June. Alejandro Rodriguez, its engineering sales manager, thinks that the new network will be able to deliver downlink transmission speeds of between 25-Mbps and 50-Mbps.
