Brazilian World Cup stadiums sign mobile coverage deals
Brazil’s mobile telephony service providers have signed agreements with Itaquerao stadium, in Sao Paulo, and the Arena da Baixada, in Curitiba, on deploying indoor mobile coverage for men\'s World Cup football matches, Telecompaper informs us, adding, however, that delays in making the stadiums available for work completion will make it difficult to install the internal telephony infrastructure.
The indoor coverage will involve voice and data services, using 2G, 3G and 4G technologies. To install these, Claro, Oi, Nextel, Tim, and Vivo partnered on a single project, with shared infrastructure and investment. Total investment for 12 stadiums was put BRL 200 million ($85.7million) for total indoor coverage.
