Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) intends to build 3,000 LTE base stations this year and 7,000 in two years. The company seeks to initiate commercial LTE services on the 700 MHz band in the third quarter of this year, The Digitimes writes citing FET executive vice-president and chief sales & marketing officer Maxwell Cheng.

Separately, the company also said it has sold 200,000 Xiaomi Mi3 and Hongmi smartphones bundled with contracts. It will also begin offering the Hongmi Note in May. FET plans to procure 2.3 to 2.5 million handsets for contract bundled sales this year, with Xiaomi smarpthones making up 15 to 20 percent of this.
