Spanish mobile network operator Orange Espana has announced that it is testing LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) in the city of Valencia utilizing SingleRAN technology provided by Chinese vendor Huawei, TeleGeography reports. The operator said that in trialing LTE-A, it combined 20MHz in the 2,600MHz band and 10MHz in the 1,800MHz band, achieving speeds of up to 222Mbps. In terms of further development, it aims to integrate six more nodes to make a small LTE-A network in the city centre.

In July 2013, Orange Espana opened commercial 4G services in the cities of Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Malaga and Murcia. In confirming the latest network development, Orange noted that it has now spent around 17 million euros ($23.4 million) on its 4G infrastructure in Valencia, adding that it now has coverage across the metropolitan area of the city. It aims to expand to the municipalities of Paterna, Sagunto, Torrent, Gandia and Xativa soon.
