Fujian is accelerating the development of 4G and urban integration in Broadband China pilot cities including Xiamen, Quanzhou and Zhangzhou, the Fujian Telecommunication Management Bureau said at the news briefing on communication reform, Strait Herald reported on April 21.

According to Lin Faxiang, deputy chief of the bureau, Fujian is formulating a Communication Infrastructure Construction Plan to promote communication infrastructure construction and sharing of emergency operational communication. A public information platform will be established in Xiamen, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou, to achieve integration of public service information, to upgrade telephone numbers, to connect the grid and to integrate the cost of communication fees.

Fujian will accelerate its 4G network construction. By the end of March, Fujian had invested a total of 3.3 billion yuan ($529 million), covering 171,000 households. It is estimated that there will be 5.2 billion yuan ($834 million) used for 4G network construction by the end of this year, which can achieve 4G network coverage in cities and towns, and coverage will reach 700,000 households.

In addition, 4G cost is continuing to decline. “Price is determined by the market and enterprises,” said an authority from the telecommunication bureau.
