The designer and developer of semiconductor devices Wolfson Microelectronics has reached a partnership agreement with chipset maker MediaTek, according to which, its HD Audio services will be provided as a pre-integrated option, on MediaTek’s mobile LTE reference platforms, Telecompaper reported on Monday, noting that, to get the ball rolling, Wolfson’s WM8281 Audio Hub service is now available, alongside MediaTek’s latest mobile LTE SoC platforms.

Wolfson’s WM8281 Audio Hub platform delivers audio to mobile devices and can run its Ez2 suite of software, the customer’s own software, or third party software. This allows OEMs to provide audio features to smartphones and tablets, such as 24-bit 192 kHz high resolution Master Hi-Fi audio playback, voice-call quality including Ambient Noise Cancellation, ‘always on’ voice control, hand-free speakerphone and video-calling quality, and speaker drivers and speaker protection.
