Some 72.9 million Brazilians, or 36.3 percent of the population, currently have access to 4G services, or more than the target for the third stage of deployment, reports Telecompaper.com, citing Folha de Sao Paulo.

The government\'s goal is for all state capitals and cities with more than 500,000 inhabitants to be covered with 4G, by the end of May. Currently 101 cities are covered, with 70 of them in Southern or Southeastern Brazil. The next goal, for December 2015, is cities with over 200,000 inhabitants.

According to the latest figures from the regulator Anatel, just over 2 million Brazilians had LTE devices at the end of March.
