Russian mobile operator Megafon has started providing LTE services in the Dagestan republic, Telecompaper.com reports, noting that the services are currently accessible in the city of Makhachkala, with around 98 percent of the city area now covered and speeds reaching up to 150 Mbps.

The operator plans to expand network coverage this year, with LTE services set to become accessible in Khasavyurt, Kaspiysk, Buynaksk, Kizlyar, Derbent and Izberbash. Megafon currently provides LTE services in 12 cities in its Caucasus branch. The operator has a subscriber base in Dagestan of around 1.5 million.
