Somalia operator Somtel plans to roll out an LTE network in Somalia, reports Telecompaper.com, adding that the company is deploying 70 sites across the country and will launch commercially in the coming weeks.

Chairman Saeed Mohamed Saeed Dualeh told a media briefing in Nairobi that the Somali market has great growth potential and is ready for LTE following a significant uptake of the 3G services in the country. With the deployment of LTE by Alcatel-Lucent, the company expects broadband capacity to increase three-fold.
