Vodafone increases 4G capacity

Vodafone has improved its 4G capacity in central Auckland, New Zealand, allowing more 4G data users to access fast mobile service simultaneously, without performance degradation, Scoop.co.nz reports, explaining that Vodafone started its Auckland-based “Dual-Band 4G” trial in November 2013, nine months after the 4G launch, in response to the rapid use of the 4G service.

Vodafone is the first to try Dual-Band 4G, which uses the 2,600-MHz and 1,800-MHz 4G bands on a single site, delivering more capacity in the area. Tony Baird, the head of networks, says the deployment of Dual-Band is the company’s next evolutionary move nationwide.
