Verizon completes Golden State Cellular buyout

2014-06-04 15:26:56| Source:

Verizon Wireless has completed its purchase of partnership interests in Golden State Cellular from Sierra Cellular and its two co-owners, meaning that it now owns 100 percent of the regional operator, Telegeography.com writes. The transaction expands Verizon’s footprint in East Central California, with the smaller company’s concession (California RSA #3) comprising spectrum covering Amador, Alpine, Calaveras, Tuolumne and Mariposa counties – including much of Yosemite National Park.

Verizon will continue to use the Golden State Cellular brand for several months while it integrates the cellular networks. When the integration is complete, it will deploy 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology in the new territory and serve Golden State Cellular’s customers under the Verizon Wireless brand. The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
