Radisys, AirHop and Broadcom integrate SON-Ready LTE small cell solution

2014-06-11 15:28:42| Source:

The wireless infrastructure provider Radisys, and AirHop Communications, which develops advanced RAN intelligence software, have integrated AirHop’s eSON software with Radisys’s Trillium LTE TOTALeNodeB solution and Broadcom Corp’s BCM617xx Series small cell silicon, Lteworld.org reports. This integrated Self-Organizing Network (SON) for LTE and LTE-Advanced small cell networks allows mobile operators to quickly deploy interference management functionality across a broad customer base. Trial deployment of the integrated SON solution is underway with leading mobile operators.

AirHop’s eSON is a cloud-based, client-server, system that allows coordinated optimization across small cell layers and between small cells and macrocells, providing real-time optimization of available radio resources via multi-cell coordination for optimal coverage, capacity for each cell, and quality of service for users. Radisys’s TOTALeNodeB software is a turn-key, deployment proven, small cell solution that simplifies LTE small cell development and integration while cutting typical product development time in half.

By integrating eSON within its TOTALeNodeB solution, on Broadcom silicon, Radisys provides a distributed SON solution that allows reduced OPEX via automatic discovery, self-configuration, and other OSS-level SON functions. In addition to real-time coordination among multiple cells coupled with interference management and load balancing algorithms, it also provides improved system capacity via intelligent radio resource allocation.
