Warid Telecom tests LTE services in Lahore
Pakistani telecommunications services provider Warid Telecom is currently testing LTE services in Kot Lakhpat, an industrial area of Lahore, Telecompaper.com reports citing the Express Tribune, noting that the company has already bought sample handsets, dongles and USBs for 4G testing in certain locations.
Warid has sent a request to the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) for authorization to launch 4G services through existing spectrum in the 1,800 MHz band. The operator is still waiting to obtain the approval to launch the LTE service. It has a technology-neutral license and only needs the authorization of the government to start 4G.
The operator aims to initially offer the 4G service in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
