TELE Greenland, the country’s incumbent telecoms operator, has started 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) services for PC and tablet users in Qaqortoq, the most populous town in southern Greenland, and the fourth largest settlement in the country, Telegeography.com reports.

From June 30, Qaqortoq’s entire population will be able to subscribe to the ‘Mobile Broadband Premium’ service, which provides 20Mbps/5Mbps down/uplink speeds, with a 20GB data allowance, for DKK999 ($182.68) per month. The new deployment means that the company’s LTE population coverage will stand at 50 percent at the end of June, 2014.

TELE Greenland initiated its LTE network for USB modem users in the capital Nuuk in December 2013. Subsequently, the network was extended to cover the second-largest town Sisimiut, in March 2014.
