Telecom Italia has announced the extension of its FTTC and 4G networks to the central city of Latina, at a cost of around 3-million euro, Telecompaper.com reports, explaining that the operator used new non-invasive digging techniques to build the FTTC network, rolling out around 60-km of cable to connect 165 street cabinets and providing 30,000 households with Internet connections at speeds of at least 30 Mbps.

In addition, Telecom Italia has installed 32 LTE-enabled base stations in Latina to expand 4G coverage to nearly 98 percent of the city\'s people, allowing TIM users to download data at speeds of up to 100 Mbps. The company says that Latina is one of the first cities in Italy to have a fully operational fiber-optic, 4G network.
