Huawei E2E Ultra-Flash CSFB Solution accelerates commercial use of 4G Voice Solution

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has announced the successful demonstration of Ultra-Flash Circuit Switched Fallback (Ultra-Flash CSFB) from LTE TDD using the new flagship smartphone Huawei Ascend P7 during the 2014 Huawei User Group Meeting.

Taking only three seconds, Huawei’s unique Ultra-Flash CSFB dramatically cuts setup time by up to 50 percent when compared with CSFB technology in 3GPP R8, and allows LTE users to enjoy an improved end-to-end voice experience. Ultra-Flash CSFB is now commercially available, after first being introduced a year ago.

While operators line up to implement commercial VoLTE at scale, LTE users’ voice experience remains an area for improvement, with users waiting at least seven seconds before their voice call is connected.

During the 2014 Huawei User Group Meeting, over 300 participants representing 142 mobile operator partners from more than 100 countries witnessed this live demo. The three seconds setup time has proven to be a record for CSFB in the industry and truly improves 4G users voice experience.

To implement Ultra-Flash CSFB, operators are not required to reconstruct their current networks. It is simple, cost-effective, and more importantly, can be smoothly evolved to VoLTE in the future. Huawei is currently in talks with a number of operators keen to trial and test its Ultra-Flash CSFB.
