Over 16,000 base station sites authorized for LTE in France

There were 16,029 base station sites authorized for LTE in France as of July 2, 2.4 percent more than a month earlier, reports Telecompaper.com on July 4, 2014. The number of 800 MHz sites increased by 6.7 percent to 7,691; 1,800 MHz sites rose by 0.5 percent to 6,564; and 2.6 GHz sites grew by 3.1 percent to 9,853. Orange France and Bouygues Telecom have over 70 percent of the authorizations issued by the agency since the start of LTE deployment. The counties of Bouches-du-Rhone and Cote d\'Or accounted for over 10 percent of the authorizations issued in June. A quarter of all authorizations are in six counties, Bouches-du-Rhone, Cote d\'Or, Val d\'Oise, Alpes-Maritimes, Nord and Essonne.
