O2 Czech Republic is launching 4G services on the 800 MHz frequency in Karlsbad, and the LTE network will be available there during the film festival, which attracts more than 12,000 visitors annually, Telecompaper.com reports on July 4, 2014. The 4G network will supplement the existing 3G network, increasing the overall data capacity of the O2 network.

The 2G and 3G networks will be strengthened during the festival, which runs until July 13. O2 customers will be able to use the 3G HSPA+ network with a maximum download speed of 42 Mbps. O2\'s LTE service offers a maximum speed of 110 Mbps. In Karlsbad, a maximum speed of 75 Mbps will be available. LTE from O2 is available in several other locations.

Based on an independent survey by DSL.cz, as of May, the O2 network provided the highest LTE speed. With regard to phones supporting LTE, O2 offers 22 models at various price levels. To use LTE, customers need a new type of SIM card called USIM. Customers can verify their current SIM card type by sending a short code. Exchange of SIM card is offered for free at any sales point of O2.
