Avantel to launch 4G by end of Q3

2014-07-08 17:08:54| Source:

Colombian telecoms operator Avantel expects to launch its 4G LTE service by the end of the third quarter of 2014, Telecompaper.com reported on July 4, 2014. Avantel has selected Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) to supply the complete infrastructure for its LTE network. Earlier this year, Avantel asked the government to suspend Claro, Movistar and Tigo\'s 4G permits as these operators failed to sign a national roaming agreement. The 4G license conditions require the incumbent operators to provide access to roaming on their 4G networks for new entrants such as Avantel, Directv and ETB. In May, Colombia\'s Communications Regulatory Commission (CRC) decided that mobile operators Claro, Tigo and Movistar will have to provide roaming services for Avantel.
